Surprised by this update.
It seems my previous review of this game can no longer apply.
The issues with instability and lack of server backup are resolved. The game loads on the first attempt at opening, and the daily quests always work.
They have increased the gem cost to summon the highest ranked monsters; however, the potential to gain more gems is phenomenal compared to before this update. The daily quests can yield more gems, there are daily rewards for logging in, you still get gems for increasing infamy, and you receive gems after completing enough waves. The increased price of higher rank monsters is balanced very well with the amount of gems obtainable from the varied sources. I am quite impressed by those additions. Granted, you can still spend a little to help speed the process along, but being able to gain seven gems (in my case) in the course of a few minutes from the daily quest, logon, and dungeon waves does, indeed, help me feel like I am getting somewhere.
The grinding element still exists, but, as I mentioned earlier, getting gems after completing ten (Im pretty sure it was ten) waves does wonders to actually feeling like you arent totally wasting your time.
Overall, I am impressed the developers took the time to reduce the pay-to-win aspect of the game and fix the stability issues. Its good to see a developer take shortcomings seriously and do what they can to mitigate them.
